Does air travelling via a simple fan (no ionizer) through an electrostatic filter (like Filtrete) get ionized?
Just to clarify a prior question, I had; I’ve heard that ionized air can be potentially harmful (i.e. free radicals) so I want to avoid air cleaners that ionize air. The 3M Filtrete electrostatic polyolefin-based filters (very common in furnace filters, and now as part of a standalone air purifier) are pre-charged with a static charge to attract dirt, dust, and particles of inflowing air.
My question is, as non-ionized (regular) air travels through the filter (via a simple fan, there is no ionizer involved) is there any way that it could pick up any of the charge on the electrostatic filter, or that the air can become somewhat ionized in any way or form after it leaves the filter? Now, AFAIK, air doesn’t conduct charges well, so my guess would be no, but I’d like to have an expert opinion.

Where can I find a manel for Kenmore Electrostatic Air Cleaner?
I need the manuel for this item. Here is kenmore’s description of it
"The Kenmore Electrostatic Air Cleaner quickly and effectively reduces airborne allergens and irritants in larger rooms of your home or home office – using a 3 stage cleaning system. Pre-filter collects large particles, the collecting cell charges and attracts smaller particulates, and lastly, an ionizer revitalizes the clean air. The washable filter system saves time and money because it eliminates buying or replacing extra filters. Control panel with LCD puts all the controls at your fingertips."

Air purifier ionizer on or off?
I just bought a small air purifier (for a small bedroom). I’ve been having shortness of breath (difficult to take deep breaths). I do have an apt to see a doctor but I wanted to get an answer about my purifier.
There is a switch I can turn on that will active the ionizer, should I chose to do so.
I’ve had it a couple weeks now. I’ve only used the ionizer for about 24 hours during this time period. It seems as though the filter picks up more particles when the ionizer is turned on.
My question is… Is it better for me to have the ionizer turned ON or OFF?
I’ve filtered through some of the Q&As on the board already. I can’t seem to find a straight answer. To be honest, the positive and negative ion speak really confuses me. Can someone put it into laymens terms for me? And let me know if I should keep the ionizer on or off? Thanks in advance!
