how to ionize helium?
i am going to be doing an experiment on manipulating negative ions with magnetic fields but i am wanting to use pure helium instead of just compressed air and i was wondering can i buy a normal air ionizer and use it to ionize compressed helium. here is the ionizer i am going to use http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/SW-750/IONIZER/1.html i just want to know if it is possible to ionize helium with this and if not, then with what device may i ionize helium with?

Question about Air Purifiers…?
I bought an air purifier and it has an on/off switch for the optional Ionizer. It indicates that when the ionizer switch is in the On position, it will release negative ions into outgoing filtered air. I am confused. Does this help eliminate odors like smoke, or should I leave the switch in the Off position?? Please help me. Thanks.

am i able to ionize the air in an enclosed airtight container if the ionizer is inside the container?
i bought a little ionizer with a 7.5kv output and put it in an empty water bottle to try to fill it with negative ions so that i could move it with a magnet (just for experimentation purposes) but it wouldn’t move and i was wondering if an ionizer works in an enclosed airtight container, if it can completely ionize all of the air inside the container????
