How can I tell if the ionizer on my air filter creates ozone?

I know not all ionizer air filters create ozone, and I have pets that I can’t have near ozone. Other ions are fine. I just haven’t been using the "Performance booster" for fear it creates ozone. I have Holmes HAP412N-U HEPA-Type Mini Tower Air Purifier.

Thanks!

    Home Air Filter differences?

I don’t know what to look for when buying a home air filter. All I do know is to stay away from ozone and ionizers because they can emit more pollution in my home and this is exactly what I’m trying to get removed. Why would someone construct an air filter that causes more pollution? Is there a brand that is better than another? Has anyone had good luck with air filters?

how to deal with allergies? how bout air filters?

i’ve got allergies and so does my daughter. every morning, we wake up with a runny nose. if we stay in the room too long, it gets worse. our room is on the 2nd floor and by the main road. it’s noisy and dusty outside. we use an airconditioner but living here in a philippine city, means living in a dusty city. moving out is a big step that we might not be able to take. any suggestions? i’m thinking of getting an air filter.do air filters like bionaire really work? what’s the difference between air ionizer and air filter? what else can i do?

What is better—fresh air from outside or regular room air with an air filter on?

Whenever I get home, I love to open up all of the windows to let in fresh air. Whenever my hubby gets home, he closes everything and turns on the air filters (with ionizers) that we have in each room. I feel like I get a headache and stuffed up nose with them on all the time. He thinks I’m crazy. I would like to know what is better for us to breathe.

How does an ionizer emit ions into the air?

I understand the process of common houshold air filters using an ionizer to emit ions into a room to bond with particles in the air causing them to fall and no longer be in the air. But what mechanism (mechanial, elctromagnetic, etc.) is used to propell the ions into the room. Are different sizes of the device used for different sized rooms? Any other info would be interesting.

Thanks for the response. I’m not looking to remove any odors. I just use an room air filter that has an ionizer that doesn’t require the fan to be in operation for it to work. It made me wonder how does an ionizer emit ions then.
